What a full roof replacement includes
A complete replacement removes the existing shingles down to the deck, replaces any damaged decking, and installs a full system: underlayment, ice-and-water barrier at valleys and eaves, drip edge, starter strips, shingles or metal panels, new flashing, pipe boots and ridge ventilation.
Ask every roofer to list these items in writing. A quote that only says "replace roof" makes it hard to compare and easy to cut corners.
How much does a new roof cost in Georgia?
Pricing is usually quoted per square (100 square feet of roof). For architectural asphalt shingles, Georgia homeowners typically see roughly $450–$620 per square installed, so a 2,400 sq ft single-story home with a medium pitch often lands around $14,000–$19,000. Steep pitches, multiple layers to remove, rotten decking and premium materials push the price up.

Choosing the right material
Architectural shingles are the most popular choice in Georgia for their balance of cost, wind rating and 25–30 year lifespan. Standing seam metal costs more up front but can last 40–70 years and handles coastal wind well. Designer shingles and synthetic slate suit historic and higher-end homes.
